In line with JCI and United Nation resolution at the 2015 United Nations Global partnership summit, Junior Chamber International, Nigeria Ekiti State
University, Ado-Ekiti is embarking on a massive one week health project tagged : DR KOLAWOLE OGUNDIPE HEALTH WEEK on the global sustainable development goals as a prelude to finalizing an implementation plan focused on local priorities to promote good health and well being of the people.
To do this; JCIN EKSU will be having one week of health projects starting on 9th -14th of May, with main focus.
Sustainable Development Goals 3, SDG #3 (Good Health and Well- Being)as related to our immediate environment.

What are sustainable development goals?
'Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is officially known as Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, are an intergovernmental set of aspiration Goals with 169 targets.
On 19 July 2014, the UN General Assembly's Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) forwarded a proposal for the SDGs to the Assembly.
The proposal contained 17 goals with 169 targets covering a broad range of sustainable development issues. These included ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, making cities more sustainable, combating climate change, and protecting oceans and forests.On 5 December 2014, the UN General Assembly accepted the Secretary-General's Synthesis Report which stated that the agenda for the post-2015 SDG process would be based on the proposals."

The 17 goals are stated below;
Poverty - Eradicate poverty in the society
Food - End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Good health and well being - To ensure a healthy life for all and guarantee the well being of all ages
Education - Ensure the best and standard education and to have opportunity of life long learning
Women - Achieve gender equality and to empower woman and girls
Water - Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and for all
Energy - Ensure access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for all
Economy - Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Infrastructure - Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Inequality - Reduce inequality within and among countries
Habitation - Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and comfortable to stay
Consumption - Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Climate - Take urgent action to fight climate change and its effect
Marine-ecosystems - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Ecosystems - Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Institutions - Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Sustainability - Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
JCIN EKSU is going with the the SDG 3(Good health and well being) thhe project details is as follows:
-Day one: Malaria test, Donation of treated mosquito nets and malaria drugs
Venue: ARA community, Ikole Local Government Area, Ekiti State.
-Day two: Free HIV/Aids test for students and Donation of blood to save life (in partner with NBTS) and peace is possible campaign on campus
Venue: EKSU Campus
-Day three: Operation Keep EKSU Clean/Visitation to OMOTOLA
Venue: EKSU Campus
-Day four: Donation to University Health Center
Venue: University Health Center
-Day five: Female sensitization on menstrual circle
Venue: Aba-Igbera, Ado Road, Iworoko-Ekiti
-Day six: Walk for Cancer
Venue: Iworoko-Ekiti and environ.
*The essence of this project is to achieve one of the sustainable development goals, goal 3 in particular, in response to the need which is to "promote good health and well being" these projects will help to identify individuals at risk of any disease and we will offer free health screening which includes malaria test, typhoid test, HIV/AIDS test, cancer test, checking of blood pressure for students and the residents of the host community.
